The Journey of Facilitating Solutions
Founded by Jessica Bufford, Facilitating Solutions started where passion met need. Working at the International Atomic Energy Agency, Jessica had the opportunity to witness her boss masterfully lead collaborative meetings. Careful observation bore fruit as she began to lead her own meetings, drawing out perspectives that were under represented and clarifying ideas presented by participants. As she grew, others began to affirm her skill in facilitation. That led to the question “what might it look like to lead better meetings?” This sparked a journey into facilitation, including formal certification and a growing certainty that we can be using our time together better. As Jessica’s passion for facilitation grew and her awareness of the need for these skills in national security discussions, she decided that she could be the change she wanted to see in her community. In May 2025, she launched Facilitating Solutions to make that change happen.

About Jessica
Jessica Bufford has ten years of experience specializing in facilitating conversations that put smart people into small rooms to talk about big ideas. She has pushed policy makers from around the world find ways to strengthen protections around the use of nuclear materials, convened experts to analyze key challenges and find shared solutions, built community among diverse stakeholders, and cooperation between divergent viewpoints.
Jessica received a master’s degree in nonproliferation and terrorism studies, with a certificate in conflict resolution, from the Monterey Institute of International Studies and a bachelor’s degree in political science and French from Austin College. She also holds an Executive Certificate in Meeting Facilitation from Georgetown University.
